Executive Board Positions
Thank you to those who have volunteered for the Executive Board! You are the definition of a risk-taker. This is a great way to meet new people while helping the school, supporting teachers, and supporting our students. We cannot continue without parent engagement. Your commitment to the PTA is invaluable.

Keller PTA Executive Board Position General Descriptors
President - The glue that holds it all together! Responsibilities include running monthly PTA meetings, being the liaison between the school principal and PTA, and being ad hoc on all committees (except the nominating committee). They coordinate the work of the officers and committees of the association. Oversees all work for the school year.
Desired traits to help you shine: Organized, problem-solver, confident, effective communicator
VP of Membership - They help plan, create, and implement the membership drive each year, track and manage annual members using the Givebacks website throughout the school year, and act as an aid to the President.
Desired traits to help you shine: Organized, go-getter, friendly, sociable
VP of Communications - works with all PTA communication chairpersons to ensure effective communication between parents, teachers, and administration. They will be proactive in maintaining a โbig pictureโ view of communication. Ensures committee chairpersons provide communication pieces for their events and programs in a timely and consistent manner, and approve promotional material, following PTA standing Rules and Procedures.
Desired traits to help you shine: Extremely detail-oriented, proactive, prompt, good at follow-up
Secretary - Keeps an accurate record of the minutes of all meetings of the association and of the executive board, noting all attendees. Follows up by sending meeting minutes to the webmaster within one week of the meeting to post on the website.
Immediately following the annual election, send the name and address of the newly elected officers to Michigan PTA.
Desired traits to help you shine: Ability to quickly write/ type meeting minutes; good at follow-up
Treasurer - Keep a full and accurate account of receipts and expenditures by keeping a detailed ledger; make the disbursements as authorized by Standing Rules and Procedures, Have checks or vouchers signed by two persons, the treasurer and one other person; Present a financial statement at every meeting; Submit the books every summer for an audit by an outside professional. Maintain financial transparency.
Desired traits to help you shine: Extremely detail-oriented, ability to multi-task, experience with keeping a financial ledger
Member-at-Large: Ensure Robertโs Rules of Order are followed at meetings. Be the Executive Board member on the Nominating Committee & recruit members for the Nominating Committee. Arrange the Nominating Committeeโs first meeting and provide information on the nomination and election process.
Desired traits to help you shine: Self-starter, ability to pace responsibilities and meet the nominations deadline
As a group: Hold annual meeting each summer to go over Unit Bylaws, Standing Rules, Procedures and set goals for the year; meet twice a year as an Executive Board (summer and winter,) oversee all PTA committee work to ensure it aligns with PTA values and rules. Try to attend PTA events when possible to show support of your organization.
