International Food & Fun Festival

March 1st, 2019 5pm - 9pm

Helen Keller Elementary PTA will host our eleventh annual fundraising event to benefit the PTA, the International Food and Fun Fest & Silent Auction. Enjoy a night out with friends and family as Keller opens its doors to more the 500 guests from our school and surrounding community to eat, create crafts, play games, and experience the sounds of several musicians and dancers. This is our school’s primary winter and spring fundraiser. Our Silent Auction is open from 5:00 -7:30 pm.

Admission

$5 per person, $15 maximum per household.

For guests that are looking for GLUTEN FREE options, we will have GreenSpace Cafe and M.C.'WICHES at our gluten free/vegetarian table.

International Displays

At the IFFF we will enjoy entertainment, crafts, games and food all with an international theme. We hope families will enjoy themselves as they learn and explore our global similarities and differences. One of the most fun aspects is the family display booths displaying information on their own heritage, background, or traditions. These displays expose the students to a variety of cultures and allow them to appreciate the diversity of the student body at Keller.

We are seeking families to create and display their family heritage on a 3-panel board during the International Food & Fun Festival.

As you think about what to include in a display, please consider some key elements of the IB Primary Years Program (PYP), such as Transdisciplinary Themes listed here:

Who we are? Where we are in place and time?

How we express ourselves? How the world works?

How we organize ourselves? Sharing the planet

Incorporating the IB curriculum in your planning would be wonderful, but we want to encourage everyone to participate however they feel best, - anything you want to do is fine. What has worked in the past is for families to display basic information about their cultural this could include, maps, flags, photo’s, facts, artifacts, music, book, toys or games.

As a thank you, all participating families will be entered in to a drawing for a $50 gift card

On March 2, 2018 the Helen Keller Elementary School PTA will host our tenth annual Silent Auction to benefit the PTA. The Silent Auction will again be teamed with our International Fun and Food Festival (IFFF). During this event, our building will open its doors to more than 500 guests from our school and the surrounding community for entertainment, games, crafts, prizes, and a tasting room- all with an international theme. The event is our school's primary winter and spring fundraiser.

Thank you everyone for coming to our wonderful International Food and Fun Festival, Silent Auction and School Raffle this month! The results are in, and it was a great success. Thank you to our event chairs, Barb Shipman, Jennifer Lopez, Katie Bonus and Jenny Rossbach, and all the volunteers who helped to make this event spectacular!
